"Not much to post about this week as I have finally been able to write up my "home-Brew" Napoleonic rules which are inspired by SPI's board game "Napoleon at Waterloo". In particular the combat rules and use of a combat results table. These rules are aimed at playing larger scale battles involving a number of corps, where each base generally represents a Brigade, but can represent a Division for a particularly large battle…"

Worth a look – though at a lower level (battalions and squadrons):

Board game geek – Waterloo

Rules:

Wayback m/c – Waterlook Rules (pdf)

The best bits are the combined-arms combat sequencing and the simplified combat-results-table and morale checks.

The bad bit is that it is played on board with very carefully placed and sized regions – difficult to adapt to a wargames table.

Wallace also produced Gettysburg – but Waterloo is more fun.

I feel there is significant potential in figure game rules based on boardgames. New v Wellington is one set of rules which may also work.

i like the compactness of the rules – they look just like what i was after in terms of some wargame rules that i could use for playing some games with my daughter
