For example: If a unit behaves poorly on the battlefield, do you give those figures any special post-game treatment? |
whitphoto | 05 Sep 2024 9:39 a.m. PST |
The farthest I go is removing figures with broken weapons first as casualties |

It's fun to do a little roleplaying with units. Four Feathers or a yellow flag temporarily attached to the unit base. Doesn't get removed until they redeem themselves. |
robert piepenbrink | 05 Sep 2024 9:55 a.m. PST |
Not personally. I've known a fellow Napoleonics player to try to sell off a consistently unreliable hussar regiment. (No takers: we all knew about the "Rotten, Routing Tenth.") Another painted a yellow streak on the backs of his Bavarian Guard Armored Cuirassiers after they faltered at a critical moment. It was painted over a year or so later when they redeemed themselves. |

At a local Denver convention in the 1980's. They would run a 25mm Fantasy game and when a unit or figure was remove it was then smashed on a avvil with a large hammer. |

I send them to bed early with no supper or tv. |

I just give them a disappointing look, and say "Your brother always fights better!" AITA? |

They are placed back in the box with their nobler fallen comrades and put into the closet after the game. The victorious and those noble but defeated who stood, stay on the table until my wife complains. |

Tis not the minis that behave poorly, but the hand that rolls the dice. Bring an electric flyswatter and zap thineself for punishment. ~ , ~ |

I don't punish units that behaved poorly, but I have been known to paint medals on units that performed heroically. |
Parzival | 05 Sep 2024 10:48 a.m. PST |
They might get a cutting remark when removed from the table. I fear that sarcasm, however, goes right over their heads. |

Actually it takes two like events to make my unit suffer a downgrade to their permanent moral standing. I do continue that game after game. |

If I can, I replace them with units in my spare troops box, and they may only return if their replacements act in such a cowardly way! |
Grelber | 05 Sep 2024 1:42 p.m. PST |
My Vikings don't come in pre-organized units, but they do have leaders, and I have a significant number of leader figures. So, if a leader fails me, he (or she, since I have a shield maiden leader) can expect not to be used for several games and takes no part in the apres-battle looting and feasting. Grelber |

We've always joked that one should bring a pair of metal snips to the game and that any unit that fails should get "cut." But none of us have been brave enough to do that. Jim |

HansPeterB | 05 Sep 2024 10:55 p.m. PST |
I would have said "no," but just recently I had a unit of Space Marines perform so abysmally in three or four consecutive games that I decided that they had to go back in the box for a few weeks to think about what they'd done. |
Dal Gavan | 06 Sep 2024 1:07 a.m. PST |
Not really punish them, but years ago (mid 70's, when a Minifigs 20mm figure cost 20c AUD) a mate and I used to keep the colours if we captured them, either by by annihilating a unit or capturing them in melee. We did "prisoner swaps", but I had two regiments whose colours were never regained- when I sold them off (to to go to 15mm) they were still short their colours. |

I think it helps in my case. Arakcheev Gren rate as Gren in Empire, 2 games in a row they ran like little girls each time got demoted 1 pt, each not doing anything by itself but 2 points is a moral factor to now Elite. Last game they did nothing out of ordinary. |
