"How do you catch these guys and take out enough of them to at least reduce their capabilities?"-Tortorella The Houthis can easily move, hide or bury their small arms and man portable systems. It is much harder to hide any of their larger systems or stockpiles of munitions. When they slink away and hide we comb the area, find what we can and destroy it. This reminds me of a training operation I took part in when I was in the 82nd. We dropped in and set up ambush blocking points on the roads. Other elements of the 82nd swept the area conducting a search and destroy mission of the OPFOR. Some of the OPFOR was able to evade us on foot with small arms but lost everything else they had. They could not move heavy equipment / vehicles / supplies through rough terrain without being spotted. Once the Houthis are hamstrung and on the run we turn over the area to some group that hates them and will give the Houthis the attention they deserve. |

It is classic guerilla warfare. Keep striking known and likely enemy locations, e.g. ADA positions, missile sites, radars, supply points, C3, etc. With Drones, TLAMs, etc. Avoid hitting civilians, but in counter-guerilla ops since it is hard to tell who is who, etc. As we know they don't wear uniforms. Blend in with the locals as most are the locals. And every non-combatant that is killed plays into their insurgency's narrative, etc. E.g. Gaza … Dragon +1 |
