Holy, I just realized it is the signing of the Japanese surrender on the Missouri today. Official end of World War II.

I'm not certain if this is true but very Canadian regardless.

As the various representatives for the Allied Powers signed, the Canadian representative, Colonel Lawrence Vincent Moore Cosgrave, a WW1 veteran, winner of Distinguished Service Order twice, received the French Croix de guerre, and was blinded in one eye signed on the wrong line and as such the Japanese copy of the document had to be amended.
