Greetings I have recently put the final touches on the first big milestone in my quest to paint the entire battle of Waterloo in 28mm. You can see my Anglo-Dutch army in the video below or on my blog for still images. youtu.be/rLqA9p1d3dw link This represents a bit over 3,000 figures representing all of the units in the order of battle with the typical 24-36 models per battalion. A wide mix of manufacturers supplied the raw material. The project was painted over a bit less than two years. The Prussians are next, but I thought this community might enjoy seeing this "intermediate" milestone. cheers Helge |

Great work! Now, what banquet hall or gymnasium will you rent to field all of these Allied forces, plus the Prussians and the French, to refight Waterloo? Jim |

Not only stunning but such an achievement in such a short space of time. Are you using a constant figure scale? I thought there was quite a variation in unit size in the Anglo-allied army? |

Thank you all for the kind comments. PaulB: The table is thankfully quite sturdy but this is definitely stretching its surface coverage to the limit! ColCampbell: I am gradually expanding across our home. So far, there is a gaming room shown in my blog and more recently a "historical room" with about 16' of display cabinet to hold the Waterloo collection. And once my kids move out, I have my eyes set on their room which cover an entire floor and have a nice L shape perfect for Waterloo. Just some walls to be removed (and kids…) :) BillyNM: The page on my blog goes into some detail but I have crudely split the infantry units into Small, Standard and Large in the Black Powder style. Small units of less than 250 troops have two bases, Standard of 250-750 have four and Large ones with 750+ have 6. All bases have six models. For cavalry, I am using two bases per squadron. This yields mostly 4-base units of 24 models with just enough large 36 model units for variety (e.g. Guards, Nassau, etc.). |

I hate to have to note that that ADC 92nd Highlanders major should have the regimental yellow facings, not green. And it's too early for the 79th (Camerons) piper to be in a green coat. Picky, picky… Because this is a stunning achievement, this collection. I'll go away now. |

But then credit for how the standards are arranged, King's Colour to the right every time, but, for the Guards, that "seems" reversed. It is not and you got it right |

Piper909: Well spotted. Thankfully, this is just a labelling error. The ADC should of course be from the 79th Foot. Corrected now. Regarding the piper of the 79th, I am using the incredible Mont Saint Jean website for uniform information. It shows the 79th drummer with a green coat so I assumed that the – not pictured – piper would be the same. Definitely could be wrong though! link DeadHead: Indeed! |
