The only movie I am familiar with that takes place during the Franco-Prussian War is the 1987 French film Field of Honor. Any one know of any others – including any TV productions?

Thanks 79thPA – a lot of old movies on that list – one is from 1897. Goose of Sedan looks interesting – Hardy Kruger. Does anyone know of any movies or TV productions from the last 60 years? LOL.

Slim pickings indeed. Surprised nobody did The Downfall by Emile Zola. It has a story made for the big screen.

Hi OldYeller,

You can add to the list this 1948 French movie: "Dhommes à hommes" . It's a Henry Dunant biopic.

It have some good 1859 Italian Campaign & FPW scenes. The FPW fragment is set during the siege of Paris and is quit moving.

Cheers.

The Last Cartridge looks promising, but I'd certainly fix the popcorn before it starts.

Newer production and not 1870 but 1864, I would recommend "1864 – Battle for Europe" (stupid English title), a Danish mini series about the war of 1864.Some stupid scenes, Bismarck and Moltke lying on the floor and planning their victory with toy soldiers, but the battle scenes of Dubbeln are very good.
