Ukrainian forces on Friday destroyed a key bridge in Russia's southwestern Kursk region, disrupting a link between Russian-controlled areas and those where Kyiv has made incremental advances, according to pro-Kremlin media and military bloggers…

By eliminating the bridges, Ukrainian forces may be able to move west and double the territory currently occupied in Kursk.

Hardly surprising they're severing key transport infrastructure.

Apparently in their haste to move troops about the Russian military may have also messed up their rail network at least temporarily.

Presumably the Ukrainian military is not planning on advancing over the Seym river, if they blow bridges like this.

Has anybody seen a map showing how this bridge is located in relation to the approximate front lines?

Why occupy? When you can destroy infrastructure and move on.

Yes, I don't think Ukraine wants to occupy anything in Russia. Which is what the Russians wanted to do in Ukraine. Ukraine's forces are there to kill/destroy enemy personnel and equipment. Destroy Russian supplies, C3, etc. They don't want to hold anything in Russia. By destroying Russia's ability to continue to wage war and holding terrain in Ukraine. Is their goal.

Ukrainian air force claims to have blown another bridge in the region, though the exact location has not been specified.
