You were asked – TMP link

…can you compose a "firing squad" from your minis?

29% said "no, I cannot compose a firing squad from my minis"

26% said "this is ridiculous"

15% said "yes, I can compose firing squads from multiple milieu"

13% said "yes, I can compose a firing squad from my minis"

Missed this one, I don't have many firing figures but sure my West Prussian Regiment could work.

Without a better definition of "firing squad" I can't give a definitive answer.

I can round up a half dozen half-sized lizard guys with dual barrel blow guns they fire from their nostrils and a shaman to ask as OiC.

I don't think anyone has a Condemned figure unless they did it on purpose.

My Brunswick Light Infantry Battalion von Barner is composed of Foundry Copplestone Freikorps firing. They're mounted on washers. Their leader has a raised sword.
Any army with individual firing figures can be considered a firing squad. I'm pretty sure I can throw together an Iroquois firing squad (musket or bow), or even a Pirate one.

If you add up both "yes" answers, it comes out to 28%. "No" is 29%. How would both "yes" raw data add up?
EDIT: I stand corrected. "Yes" votes add up to 22. "No" votes add up to 23.
Too many choices that blur and dilute.

Interesting enough, I specifically modeled a firing squad for both my mounted and foot Spanish Civil Guard units for the Spanish American war.

I actually can! I wanted a few more firing figures for my mid war Germans and black tree had one! link

Without a better definition of "firing squad"

You mean like the one in the question?

@Herkybird – That's a great set! Mine is cobbled together from different lines. It is a key piece for resistance games.

I declare the definition inadequate.

Do the figures need to be human? Must they have firearms? Is it a firing squad if it's archers? Wizards? The condemned can be any unarmed figure? Is a wizard ever unarmed? Is a handful of wizards standing around a firing squad? How about surrounding the condemned with gorgons, and when the officer says "fire" they remove the blindfold? Can a firing squad use siege engines? Against a giant, maybe?

If you want to critique the defition, could you actually address things in the definition, instead of just making up external things and criticizing them instead?

"Inspired by the idea that a mini that fell off someone's painting table should be executed for desertion, I was wondering if I had such an arrangement."

Isn't accidently discovering the escapee by stepping on it enough punishment (for the both of you…? ;-)

The dumb guy10 Aug 2024 9:45 p.m. PST

I don't execute figures. I execute dice. The men are blameless. It's the dice who are at fault.

I have two firing squads, one German and one Russian. Pour encourage les autres. They hang around as scenario clutter as appropriate.

None of my figures actually shoot.

Nope but have some gallows for my western towns :)

I keep telling you, find an officer and a desk, and give the figure some sort of admin punishment. You may need him later.

I thought officers sitting behind desks doing administrative work were the main source of firing squad targets…

I am thinking harder to find is a flogging stand.

I had to make mine.

GoT Bolton's heraldry is a flayed man on a flogging stand, so I custom made a few. Empty ones are easy. Basically, any two sticks you have will do. Getting a human figure in the pose is tough, but not impossible. It's similar to am uncommon dramatic superhero pose, so there are sources without sculpting your own or heavy modding.

Since the baase of the piece has two legs, it was way easier to make than the PotA warning corpses on poles. They flayed man somehow seemed more grotesque, though.
