I am looking for help with comparing the 1980s Soviet infantry. I want to keep with the 1980s theme of AK74 infantry. Maybe Team Yankee or Afghan time period. I once had some Underfire Soviets, and while I liked their design and kit quite a lot, I found them a bit oversized.

I have a platoon of the Eureka mechanized Soviets in helmets from their Afghanistan line and absolutely love them. The Eureka figures are wearing the big overalls with both body armour and web gear on top of it all.

I understand that the Eureka Soviets in boonie hats are pretty much similarly dressed and equipped except that they have the boonie hats instead of helmet.

I am looking for more but maybe in slightly different clothing.

So far from the pictures I can expand I like the Empress 1980s VDV. They seem to have regular uniform pants but wear a jacket over top of their belt and top of trousers. Do they have hoods too?

Also the TAG line has straight out uniform with web gear and helmets. No apparent camoflage coveralls.

Height and girth wise how do the TAG and Empress lines compare with the Eureka?

I can't speak for the Soviet, however, the Eureka African (RLI, Portuguese, and ZANLA) are very slender compared to the TAG Vietnam line. Not at all compatible to my eye. Also the weapons on TAG tend to be larger. I have heard that the Empress Vietnam figures match well with West Wind and Baker Company. Still not sure I would mix with Eureka.

Don't forget the old Mongrel line available from Bager Games, I think they would match up well with Eureka maybe slightly thicker.

I have tons of the Mogrel Soviets, East German and so on.
Very nice figures but definitely AK47s or AKMs.

I really want the AK74.

The latest Badger/Mongrel soviets with Ak74s are their two Afghan summer sets and their two ninth company sets.
While they are good, they drive me absolutely nuts because they wear such a diverse mix of clothing, body armour and head gear.

Cam suit vs cam jacket vs shirt, vs undershirt
Helmet, vs cap, s boonie hat vs bareheaded
Body armour and chest rig s body armour vs none

After so may years in the army, the varying dress and kit drives me absolute bonkers.
