Our December Show game – the Sudan- is approaching.

Tonight I put the finishing touches to the Bengal Lancers. My Mahdists were re-organised & touched up some weeks ago.
I am now finished with my prep for the Show game: forces are organised, painted & based. My pals will also contribute figures for both sides + 2 Arab dhows.

I have attached photos of my Anglo-Egyptian forces – 19 units + 2 Nile steamers. I am pretty pleased with the standard.

Tomorrow night, we will run them through a game situation to further familiarise ourselves with the rules. Shows are a fair bit of work but we still enjoy them immensely.

Love the figs and the scale! Are you using Black powder? I like the mounted Egyptian officer conversion. Nice! I have been working on my Sudan figs too recently. I'm using Ral Partha since the Waterloo 1815 range fits in well with it and Newline Design British infantry. I picked up Newline Designs Mahdist Cavalry as well. I have HAT Naval Brigade, Highlanders, Bengal Lancers, Indian infantry, Mahdist, Egyptian and British Camel troopers along with Gardner, Gatling and artillery. My Esci Mahdists I mount them on a thicker wood base to disguise the height form my Partha and larger 1/72 figs. They are mounted metal bases. The period is great to do in 1/72 20mm. I have a bunch painted but many more to finish. I do hope you'll post pics of your game! Your ships look great too!

The Anglo-Egyptians will be advancing in 2 columns – a desert column using my figures & a river column, using one of my pal's forces + my boats.

We'll use the Black Powder rules. As the Show game will use about 800+ figures, I think something fairly straight forward is needed in rules. For the clash on the river between the steamers & the dhows, we are using a set of naval rules. Again, simple.

Between the various plastic & metal manufacturers, we are well covered in 1/72. The one troop type that isn't is Sudanese infantry in the Egyptian service. They wear jumpers which don't look like the tunics the Egyptian infantry wear. There are some personality figures I'd like too – Burnaby with a shotgun & Osman Digna.
