I've been following the drip feed of Bolt Action 3 information looking for the straw that breaks the camel's back. This is out of concern given the history of games that impale their popularity on a new edition (I'm looking at you FoW)

So, the game will now have cover saves. Sure Hit/Wound/Save is a classic, but it wasn't BA. Also Pinned vs number of pins: there is a whole industry in pin markers. Also, if there is no need for your old markers, is that a concern.

I for one welcome our BA overlords. 😀

Superficial damage can now kill a tank! I'm not sure that they understand what "superficial" means!
The latest:

Here's a short exert after the Superficial Damage Table:
We can see that this table contains results that will degrade the performance of your vehicle, "rather than destroy it outright", representing incoming fire striking something important, but not necessarily fatal. If these hits build up, you'll find yourself with a vehicle that's much, much less effective on the table, "or even knocked out altogether"! You'll also notice that the top result on this table – On Fire – can also disable a vehicle right away, representing a very lucky (or unlucky, depending on your perspective!) shot.
Quotations are mine.
Cheers…

I am not impressed. Looks like they are going down the more complicated road. KISS, darn it. Not multiple rolls that all end up in the same place.

And I agree they do not know what superficial means.

Now we've all got our Bolt Action version 3 what do folks think? I'm playing a game next week but there's a few things I'm not keen on such as the fielding of multiple platoons. Suddenly I'm able to have a platoon of 4 Stuarts! The Forward Observer rules also seem a bit odd in that any number of indirect firing weapons (regular of veteran) can use an FAO or Spotter at the same time! So my BEF 2" mortar can use my Forward Air Observer! I had hoped with armour having its own command vehicle would mean officers on the ground can no longer confer bonuses to them. But it seems that a Captain/ Major can confer the 'snap to action' or a +4 morale bonus to them even though this 12" distance might be out of sight! Still the rules may give a good game.
