With Historicon in the rear view mirror i am able to get back to war gaming other periods again, especially my mainstay Seven Years War era. I have been promising, on my blog, to play and report on an all-cavalry war game scenario, so here it is (finally).

The battle features the light cavalry arm of the Prussian and Russian armies. Most of the figures are 1/56 scale (28mm) Minden Miniatures with some RSM Cossacks (mounted on Minden horses).

click on this link to my blog for a picture heavy AAR with lots of colorful figures and maps that follow the action:

Oh, by the way, this is only the start of the big cavalry fight as it sets the stage for the main event: the clash of the heavy cavalry regiments.

Terrific figures and set-up. This is a great concept that my group explored in the 150th anniversary of the Late Unpleasantness Between the States with the Battle of Brandy Station. Very different than a slogging infantry fight.

Ah, the old "field bakery gambit"!
I bet the bakers are growing tired of being used as bait!

Since I been here (2010) I have been amazed at your painting. Some convention I should at least find you and say hi.
Pickett's Charge was awesome but was busy elsewhere to watch the game live.

Excellent report and photos, Jim. I can only echo the other posters about your painting, too.

And now you've got me thinking about Russians and Cossacks fighting my Prussians, Jim…

I need to get a lottery ticket.

I have only Napoleonic era armies, Prussians and British allies VS Russians and a division of Bavarians so what to do if one wants to play historical games?
Do 7yw Napoleonic style.
Someday in order Kunersdorf is next
