I saw a thread on Twitter link which is reporting that military historian Rene Chartrand has passed away. Many will be familiar with his work on various C18 and C19 subjects; I really enjoyed his works on the Emigre and Colonial Troops of Britain in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. |

Sad. Some of my very best Osprey books were from him. Extremely comprehensive. His name on the cover is a guarantee. |

This is very sad news. I concur with the dumb guy 100%. When I saw his name I knew the publication was worth every penny. My condolences to his family and friends. |

He was a historian who never rested on his laurels. In fact, Helion will be releasing volume I of a new study of Colonial troops in New France next month. link |

That is so sad and a huge loss to the military history community. His works on 1812 uniforms are some of my treasured books. |

Sad news indeed. But he leaves a legacy of books that will continue to be read for many years to come. |
