As the Bavarian uniforms of 1789-1800 need some attention I started to publish sketches form the collection of the former Bavarian officer Karl Ritter von Hoffmann (1832-1903) now in possession of the Bavarian war archive.

Hoffmann did publish a thorough researched regimental history of the 4th Bavarian infantry regiment from its beginning until 1804 in 1881 (when Hoffmann was the colonel of that regiment, garrisoned in Metz, France). He didn't only made some research about the history of the regiment but also about the uniforms and the equipment of the Bavarian army – o.k. primary about the infantry.

Today I published the first 29 images of this collection in the uniform portal at link … and four photos of a very rare original of the famous Rumford-Kaskett at link (click three times to the right and you see the other photos).

Images of other troops will follow … greetings from Berlin
