This is a very sad story. It sounds like a very perilous duty. I hope the burial of his remains brings his family some closure. My father did two tours of Vietnam. God bless all our Nam vets.

What an inspiring story. Firstly imagine the guts it took to operate such a system (so disgracefully unprotected) which was behind enemy lines. But then admiration for the effort that has since gone into identifying any remains, when the only reason is to respect the sacrifice he made. There is no commercial or political gain. God bless your Nam vets and our Harold Wilson for keeping us out of it (I was a bit too young, my hair was far too long and my med school entry would have kept me out until 1976, when it was all over anyway). This is another story that reminds us of the tragedy than was Vietnam. A lost cause then, yet a tourist destination for so many now, with a vibrant economy and, OK, you do need to still be sure to toe the Party Line. I still subscribe to the Domino Theory, as I did then, which made me very unpopular with all my mates, who shared my musical and other interests, best not specified nearly 50 years on.
