I've seen these at Dollar Tree lately, but they seem to be available sporadically and in small numbers.

These are square and hexagonal tiles, maybe a foot across, available in 'natural' and a few colors (pink, green). Can't say any more, as I haven't actually bought any, and they seem to be gone from the local stores already.

Might be useful for a terrain set if you can get enough of them. Unfortunately, I don't see these on the website, which means you can't order by the box.

I've flocked and sealed the adhesivve side of cork tiles to make two sided tiles.

Thin cork is also good for cutting rivers and ponds. If you saw through with your craft knife, the cork bits give you a nice natural looking variation in the coastline. And they fit bakc together very well.

That's something else, those are very thin cork sheets.

The cork tiles are maybe .25" thick.

Back when my wife was still alive, we owned a fabric store in a small town. I was able to get all sorts and sizes of mats from the bolts. I made sure that I went with her to the wholesalers.
Yes when I go to the Dollar series of stores, I always check on what they have of use.
We used to call certain stores Salvage stores back as early as 196 in my area. Now the town next to mine has opened a Bargain Hut and is advertised salvage from airlines and Amazon for $7 USD a parcel. I am going on Tuesday to check them out.

dollargeneral.com and dollartree.com show no cork tiles. aliexpress.com and temu.com each have dozens of sizes and thicknesses. with and without adhesive backs.

Cork is not only great for terrain it's *great* to roll dice on.

A similar-sized product at Dollar Tree is the Felt Bulletin Board, hexagonal, comes in green and pink (possibly other colors), but it is equally rare and not listed on their website.
