I am wondering what uniforms the Blue Legion wore in Berlin. I am currently putting together a mish mash of units for April/May 45. I know they were made up of the blue division that didn't want to go home. I read somewhere they like to wear their old phalange blue shirts under their battle dress. I thought a section of them would be fun amongst my volksturm, Hitler Youth, Charlemagne, Luftwaffe ground troops, Kriegsmarine and Nordland remnants. I'm think maybe just late war German heer troops. |

There is an Osprey book in print called Blue Division Soldier 1941-45. So far as I am aware they wore German uniform distinguished by a red/yellow/red insignia with 'Espana' above worn on the helmet and upper right shoulder. |

They are going to look like the German units that they were absorbed by. By this point in the war you have photographic evidence that the minor uniform distinctions (helmet decal, shoulder patch) are gone. |

Hmm. Any idea what happened to the survivors, by the way? I know the "Charlemagne" remnants were sent to France, and some at least were shot, but it's hard to imagine Franco taking the same approach. |

I think the remnants were taken into Soviet custody and some died in gulags but a few were repatriated by the red cross in the 50s. Thanks for the info guys. |
