You try to use your swipe card to get into your house.

When you get in your car you start heading into work even though you are on your time off.

The swipe card seems normal enough. What is this "time off" of which you speak?

I have been retired 8 years and change, and I was still dreaming of the office last week. Then, sadly, I woke up.

How about when you use your work PIN every time you use your CHIP card to buy gas?

Also retired since 2018. Sometimes think about going back to work, so I can have more free time.

I retired 3 years ago and I dream about work from time to time. I also talk in my sleep and the wife tells me I say stuff like "you're f'ing doing it wrong, do it the way I told you!!!" Lol, she gets a kick out of it.

Yes, retired five years now and if I'm not paying attention, I find myself in the exit lane of the Interstate that will take me to work some days.

You know you spend too much time at work, when your wife says that her printer in her home office room is low on ink, and you tell her to "submit a trouble ticket"….

Yes, I've done that.

Why I am still alive, I do not know….

I retired 3 months ago today! – I still have work related dreams sometimes – but the biggest impact is when stores ask for my e-mail address and its a real struggle to not puit my old work one in.
I don't know why either!!!!

You wake up with your boss!

Retired in 2006, still sometimes have a nightmare about work. Loved my job, but air traffic control is not for the faint hearted.

Heh, sometimes when I sleep I dream that I'm working in a huge grocery/department store (actually, I'm mostly wandering around trying to avoid working ;-) Still trying to catch the name of said company, but I know I must be racking up lots of hours and $$$'s. The cruel dreams are when I go into a dreamland hobby shop and drool over the 1/72 models/figures that aren't made in this world… :-(

Also retired 3 months ago and loving it. 37 years with the company and I rarely think about already.

Your daughter has grown 2' and gained 6 lbs since the last time you seen her. A sailor's return from a 6 month deployment.

That would kill me, OSCS74.

I've been retired 22 years and still occasionally have bad dreams about school!

I've done that one, or close enough--usually painted Napoleonics. But even in my dream, the deal falls through. They won't take my credit card, I can't get the cash in time--something like that.

A very long time ago when I was a young professional working in a downtown skyscraper and putting in the hours expected of us, I went to the bathroom after normal business hours. The bathroom was outside our office suite, and I had to use a key to re-enter the suite. It took me three tries before I realized that I was trying to use my apartment key, not my office key.

So in the days before electronic badges, you knew you were spending too much time at work if you used your home key to get into your office.

I frequently dream that I retired, but kept going in to work anyway. I keep planning to stop, but I like everyone at work too much. I think this is a side effect of remembering that most, but not all, of my coworkers genuinely appreciated me.

On the flip side I also frequently dream of being at conventions. Not real cons that I've ever really been to. Small community cons like ones held at community colleges, small hotel venues and shuttered big box stores. They have the BEST flea markets.

Zephyr1,
I have similar dreams sometimes. A Big Grocery store or a strange version of one of the VHS rental stores I worked at back in the day.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP28 Jul 2024 4:04 p.m. PST

You know, Exeter, I go to those dream cons in odd locations too, and decent-size ones. But the maps and programs are poor to non-existent, and I spend most of the dream just trying to find things. Probably says something that my happy dreams are mostly set at work.

I start my POV and reach down to turn the headlights on. Spent 17 years on mids.
