This remake of the 80s film is a confident, hilarious romp through history

Looks like they fired the dwarfs and kept the kid.

Hmmn, messing with a great movie.

You don't mess with perfection. This bird will not fly.

The reviews are all over the place. Some say it is great, others say not so much. I do not see how it could be as good as the original, but as I do not get Apple TV, and do not plan to, we'll have to wait.

I watched the first episode and it's "fun". Yes the original is awesome but this might resonate more with today's audience. You don't see Time Bandits much on the streaming channels or at least I don't. Anyway, I plan to watch episode 2 this week and as they say, we shall see.

Taika Waititi? I reckon it will be the same relentless and irreverent but woke wise-cracking that all his projects are. Self-indulgent, not funny, and really just getting a little bit old already.

The film industry seems to have lost its ability to create original work. So many repeated/rehashed/updated versions, particularly of classics. What in MP & the Holy Grail needed 'updating' ?

Wait! Next will be "Indiana Jones and the Time Bandits; The search for the missing Walker".

"Fidget! Where's my Walker?! , and my Depends needs changing again!"

Yes no imagination anymore

The renamed nobody wanted.

At least the plan to remake The Princess Bride seems to have disappeared

YogiBearMinis Supporting Member of TMP26 Jul 2024 6:44 a.m. PST

@David Manley—I have no doubt this plan to remake Princess Bride will get resurrected. Of course, Hollywood COULD just write an original script of a fantasy absurdist comedy, cast it well, and put THAT movie out, but it is much easier to steal old IP then butcher it.
