Curious about these rules, and why one might consider them beyond other available rulesets?

I saw the set up at Historicon and it looked great with a huge 15mm scale Circus set up in the lobby.

I played an earlier version of these rules a few years ago at a con and it was a lot of fun. The game ran smoothly and fast even with a large crowd of players. I think it is less fiddly than using AH Circus Maximus for example as well as being designed for miniatures.

I played in the Saturday night game, I believe we had 22 players, great time. You use up your endurance if you constantly go all out so you have to pull back on the reigns sometimes so you don't run out. Fun game!

Interested to know – how do these rules compare to Avalon Hills' Circus Maximus? Is "Roman Circus III" an attempt at an improvement over Circus Maximus?
