Trying to dredge up this from history. Wasn't there a game and a range of 1/350 scale aircraft minis out there? I had a nice bag of the aircraft my mother found me. There was a mix of the usual ETO/MTO suspects, and although I am more into the PTO/CBI, finding if a source is still out there, would help fill the gaps. CURSE YOU, SHAPEWAYS! |

Was the Helmet range 1/350? I think it has long gone though, alas. Or some model kits for deck parks for aircraft carriers? |

The Helmet range was 1/350, long gone, I can't think of any others. |

Is/was Helmet the very old injection molded plastic aircraft in 1/350 scale? Maybe from the UK? The ones I got were mostly in white plastic. If so, then maybe 15 years ago or so somebody popped up with an inventory of them for sale in batches of 50 or so grouped by theater of war and battle-Battle of Britain for example, and other ETOs--not sure if there were any Pacific war models. IIRC, the guy with the figures advertised them a bit in wargaming pubs and sites included TMP. I bought the BoB set from him (with a sample or two from other available ranges) to use them in games of Blue Sky/Squadrons, but I took so long on the project that I was later able to get nicer plastic aircraft in 1/300 scale for the same project from the Plastic Soldier Company's Battle of Britain board game, so the old plastics I bought are now surplus to requirements. To fill out the original batch of the older figures, I got one of the helpful Shapeways guys, Roman IIRC, to rescale some Bolton Paul Defiants to 1/350 scale to fill in some holes in the older plastic's TO&E. Anyway, if these are the models mentioned in your original post and you'd like them, I can check to see what I can find-I know where some are but I may have misplaced others-like the Bolton Paul Defiants, and perhaps we can work a deal-FWIW, while the seller did send me a few samples-from the bombing campaign against Germany IIRC-95% of what I got was what you would expect for the BoB for England and Germany. |

Thanks guys. Dennis, you sound spot on. Was hoping to find some Liberators. Well, hopefully some of the Shapeways designer refugees will fetch up somewhere. |

Trumpeter did a series of 1/350 aircraft-- primarily naval items for cluttering up model aircraft carrier decks. I have Corsairs and Buffaloes for the Pacific theater; likely that there are others available as well. |

I do remember Helmet.. they also did some 54mm Napoleonic cavalry figures made from the same sort of plastic, the detail a bit soft. Certainly not Historex.. The horses were as if from a toy line. Very odd. |

Bad luck CVA31bhr I sold some of these aircraft mainly Battle of Britain and some Defence of the Reich (including about 10 B24 Liberators) at Colours in Newbury UK last year at the bring and buy for a friend. |

Thanks for the answers. Guess I need to get cracking on assembling my 3d printers and go that route, or hope one of my usual Shapeways designers fetches up with another printing service. |

Yes, Helmet Products made by Dennis Knight of the rub-down transfer books fame. If you can get the Battle of Britain book there is a guide in the back on how to build a WW2 airfield to house the planes too! I had a large BoB Luftwaffe collection and my skool friend had the RAF. I eventually sold my planes to a Spanish chap at SELWG in about 1990. auction |
