Hi guys I have always want to do a project with really convincing jungle themed bases, so I CAD designed a set, initially I intended to use them on a jungle fantasy themed army, but at a pinch I could use them for my WWII pacific theatre project, my nostalgia project is a project within a project, I'll be using 1 of each pose of the Airfix, Esci and matchbox Japanese and Australians, all other troops will come from various metals or 3D printed figures. I usually undercoat my figures black, I feel like using grey this time, I may paint them using a slightly different painting technique than I usually use, I think they are looking great undercoated on these bases, looking forward to painting them. link

I'm old enough to remember buying a set of Airfix Japanese Infantry when I was but a young sprout. I recognize the poses, the officer with the samurai sword, the guy getting shot, and some of the others. I will enjoy seeing your project as it evolves and all those Japanese soldiers will get painted along with the jungle bases that you designed. By the looks of the 3D printed bases, you must have a very fine printer. I see no trace of layer lines. Cheers!

There 2 types of 3D printer, plastic and resin, plastic printers are renowned for print lines, resin printers rarely have lines. |

The Japanese Airfix set provided me with the first Italian soldiers in North Africa back when no one was making Italians. Trimmed off the visors on the caps, modified the helmets, and a paint job provided dozens of these until others came out with "real" Italians. I remember my excitement when Airfix made an Italian infantry set. Not that the converted Japanese were mustered out of the Reggio Esercito. They continue to serve faithfully alongside their successors -- 50 years later. |

The Airfix Italians are nice, but not enough poses. |
