So we have Gladiator II and " Those About to Die" leading the resurgence of Gladiator Games. It might be time to investigate Arena Rex.

I watched the first episode last night. It was "okay." All ten episodes are available, if you like to binge watch.
The opening credits have a very Black Sails vibe, hopefully it won't sink into absurdity quite as fast. I'll let Mike Gomez have the last word.😁
For my money, the original Gladiator could have had 90 percent less dialog and 100 percent more gladiating. Gladiator II looks to be a remake with Pedro Pascal. Taking a rain check on that one – I'll have to wait until the library gets a copy on DVD.

Reviews for Those About to Die are…..bad.

It makes one wonder if anything good today can come from Hollywood or modern media companies. Amazon ruined LoTR in their Rings of Power. The Foundations Series is a bit of disaster as well. The big problem for me is the inability to transport people to new worlds. Instead our current productions are overlaid with social justice tropes.

I can barely see what happens in most of the scenes. Clearly a design decision, but only the gladiator fights and the chariot races are viewable.
