They also suggested that about 2 weeks ago. 😉 it was a fiasco from the start and a sound bite that failed. A VERY expensive sound bite for the taxpayers of the US. But it's not the politicians money.

Yes, I saw that too on Military.com, IIRC … IMO a good idea but it may have had been conceived as with the A'stan debacle, more about optics[votes] than anything else.

I think the pier was a political showboat, showing the US was doing 'something' beyond airdrops.
I get the feeling no-one had any real interest in getting it up and running efficiently.
