We've created a homegrown campaign to try out some of the new rules in the new Far East Handbook for Chain of Command, particularly those for bunkers and bunker busting. It's a short campaign over three maps featuring an action near Imphal in 1944. Here is the first AAR Bunker Busting on Nunshigum Ridge

That's a nasty looking bunker site too.

We played an Iwo Jima scenario where the Japanese could sally forth from hidden spider holes – ones we were in contact with – to our flanks – or from behind us – we never knew where we were going to be suddenly attacked from – the suspense was so hairy I don't ever want to play that type of game again…..I'll leave that to younger gamers now. :)))

That's some super-looking game action on your blog entry there, TP!

LOL. From a gaming perspective I think one of the issues with playing the Japanese in the later years of the war is that there often seems little to do other than hunker down in bunkers and caves and try to hold out. Historical to some degree but not very enjoyable for the Japanese player. I think scenario designers need to give thought to how the Japanese player can be more proactive and engaged in the game and that is certainly one way of doing it. I like a tense game, so that works for me!

Nice AAR, well painted minis and excellent pics. This is a theater that's not veryfamiliar with, so thanks for opening a window. Have you posted your campaign already?

Thanks. The game reports form part of a play test for the campaign. I'm hoping to get it published in either a wargame magazine or one of the Lard publications but that depends if they want it! Otherwise I might look at making a pdf available, not sure yet.
