…Lunchbox Museum

"Allen Woodall's Lunchbox Museum in Columbus, Georgia, is organized for adventure, not that one could tell at first blush. More than 3,000 lunchboxes and 1,000 thermoses sit on floor-to-ceiling shelves that line the walls. Others hang from the ceiling.

"I'm not going to say there's no order here, because there's an order," says Kaitlynn Etheridge, a curator and marketing director for the museum—and Woodall's granddaughter. "It's just our kind of order."…"

I never owned a lunchbox. I always brown bagged. Mom said it'd do no good to get one. I averaged one tuna salad sandwich per week.

I had a Wild, Wild, West lunchbox. That was it.

I had a metal Snoopy lunchbox. The type with the bell-shaped top where you stored the Thermos. I thought about getting one a few years back as a piece of childhood memorabilia. Oh, no. WAY too expensive for a childhood memory (especially if the Thermos bottle came with it).

I have Road Runner and Fireball XL-5 boxes somewhere in the garage. Not in any collectible value for the shape they're in. And the thermos were early casualties back in the day, it didn't take much of a drop to break them… :-(
