Interesting concept. Not sure what makes it "Hex Chess" without hexes? Nevertheless, I can almost see a resurgence as a version of an almost card-gaming simplicity of infrastructure – without loss of crunchiness. The board is small and controlled and it means for easy play for those in truly tight spaces. Could go the distance.
