Can anyone clarify the colour of the gaiters? I have one source that states Black with White for parade. The other states that White were worn during summer campaigns.

I went with black gaiters, Kronoskaf agrees, and I suspect they were easier to keep looking good in the field than white ones!

Later in closer to Napoleonic era guard units sometimes have white but could be parade wear, stay with black

Chulkii (white gaiters) were by regs worn in the summer and shorter black gaiters in the winter – but there was a lot of variability 'tween regiments – the Observation Corps though had big black dragoon boots; my SYW Russians are a mix of boots, white and black gaiters – mostly white for the non-Observation Corps units

I heard that white was easier to clean as the dyes back then were pretty dicey and cold change colors after laundering.

Worth noting that Kronoskaf has fairly recently changed from white to black based on some new information. I'm also with Beefheart that black dyes of the period were not reliable so I'd expect black gaiters to be more very dark grey.
