Ah, Ridley Scott's downfall continues. What a bunch of b.s.! I seriously don't know what kind of drugs the writer of this tripe was on but I seriously hope he enjoyed the trip. "Gladiator 1" didn't need a sequel. Does this plot sound familiar – (a) man wants revenge on an 'evil' empire for killing his lover, (b) he is enslaved, (c) he defies an empire, (d) a former slave becomes his mentor/patron/whatever and together they defy an empire. Sorry, after the disastrous 'Napoleon'; I refuse to watch anything that has Ridley Scott's name attached to it! |

Looks really stunning! Its Ridley being Ridley – Spectacle! And yes, the Trailer(s) pretty much give you the whole plot on a plate (well assuming you have seen the Original). And yes its a reworking of the Original too. Will it have any major resemblance to the Caracalla, Geta, Macrinus era? What do you think? What it will have is loads of zip and crazy, with a passing nod to real events. What it also might have, that Napoleon certainly didn't, is a slice of entertainment. Boring, Dull and Actual Rubbish! |

As an alternative Amazon Prime is about to give us "Those About to Die" link Featuring Anthony Hopkins as Vespasian, wrestling with his succession. While looking like a number of other Gladiator TV series (Spartacus etc) stitched together. Appears to have Ramsey Bolton in it – so I'm guessing he wont be one of the Good Guys! |

So we have a film and a series to look forward to. I don't have Amazon Prime but a family member does so we can watch it when we visit. They look good but we can't always judge the overall quality film or plot wise by trailers. |
