What worked with the Brunswickers in the Convention Army at the Albemarle Barracks was marrying a local girl.

The Americans also tried to entice Hessian troops occupying Savannah GA to desert towards the end of the war. I have no idea whether any did successfully desert. The effort did affect the Savannah garrison which itself would have been of some benefit.
