My father was one of the enlisted men who did that. He never liked to talk about it.

My uncle was paralyzed and in the VA hospital in Memphis. A number of the veteran patients would swap patches and ship voyage logs. He got a voyage log from the Wasp. He also got a CBI patch from an enlisted guy who said he flew the hump.
