I'm building a 28mm Dwarf army and I want use Wooly Mammoths with the Dwarves, but I'm just looking to buy already made Mammoths that 8" long and 5" high will this be too big?

It's fantasy. The size you choose will work… It's fantasy! LOL!

Eight inches long is like 40 scale feet! You might want to check for Mammoths in different scales/sizes. Cheers!

Since wooly Mammoths were about the size of modern African Elephants you can work out the historical size.
But as Sgt Slag said, a fantasy one is any size you want!!!

Why don't you use the mumakil ?

(https://thetolkien.forum/wiki/M%C3%BBmakil#:~:text=Mumakil%20were%20the%20giant%20size%20beasts%20and%20took,were%20the%20ancestors%20of%20the%20present%20days%27%20elephants.)

"It still counts as one !" (;-)))

Have you seen the Mammoths made by CMON for the free folk in the Game of Thrones game system. There are two models and each should be capable of working with your dwarfs.
