US Holidays – More often than not –

For the 4th of July – I will be pulling out my AWI troops and hosting a battle of Bunker Hill.

Around Thanksgiving – I game ACW and the Battle of Franklin

For Memorial Day – I have recently started ACW and the Battle of New Market Heights

For Non-US Holidays

For Boxing Day I game one of the Sudan Colonial Battles

What do you game?

Or the usual

You dont game
Not your cup of tea
You are with family on all holidays
You game whatever comes up
I game it all

I have a large family, so holidays are spent with them. We play lots of games, but the closest to a wargame is Settlers of Catan.

None

I don't run games in November and December. I can't get enough players during the holidays. Also never do games on the 4th of July weekend for the same reason.

I don't game during the summer holidays but I do battle against the early placed beach towels on the pool loungers.

I like to get mine in sharp, on the approved dot.

None. The kids like to play (a lot) of boardgames at Christmas though.

The war games club usually puts on a special games day after Xmas, but there isn't any particular theme. Last year I ran Wavre.

I have done games with historical dates before, does seem to make them more historical

That sounds like a great lineup, so no disaster there DG!

Our area group recently, and in the past has done a Turkey Wars game around Thanksgiving, and a few games on the week between Christmas and New Years.

Long running tradtion to play a (or a couple) Christmas Truce football game during the holidays. Followed by reading a few of the archived letters from the trenches.

Around the 4th of July (this Saturday is game day) we often play Short Hills or Trenton, but not always. We've also done Vicksburg and Hatttin.

Lots of other ones on or about the date of a battle, but those are the regulars.

Pretty much none but for Christmas sometimes we play classic fantasy (Orks/goblins vs dwarves and Empire)

KevinV04 Jul 2024 6:41 a.m. PST

We usually play:
Bolt Action- D Day
The Boyne or similar- St. Patrick's
Over Christmas we do a movie marathon/game and dinner
Used to do any WW1 on Remembrance Day but now do a chariot race
Age of Eagles- around Waterloo
And a different game (persons choice) on Birthdays (This year Vietnam for mine).

I was reminded last evening that we do a Halloween game, Zombies or War of the Worlds.

Several conventions happen around holidays. So a variety of games, none specific.
