Very nice set-up and figs Whirlwind. I'm also interested in gaming the 30YW with 6mm figs and Twilight of Divine Right. What dimensions are your bases and is a unit two bases as in the rules? Many thanks, George |

Thanks George, appreciate it. I use 60mm x 30mm bases and a unit is a single base. So compared to the rules, each base is really double the depth it 'should' be. It generally works fine, unless the deployment is very crowded (I had a couple of issues with White Mountain initially) and it does allow me to play on a half-sized table (generally 3'x'2 rather than 6'x4' in the published scenarios). It is worth being a bit more forgiving of very small overlaps however when bases wheel etc. On the rare occasions a unit is in march column, it marches 'on its side' so to speak, but I have a few separate mounted officers based on equilateral triangles which 'point' the unit in the right direction. |

Hi, Many thanks for the info on your basing Whirlwind, I was hoping it was one unit on a single 60 x 30 mm base as that is the size of base I like for other rules. Your set-up on a 3' x 2' board is also what I'm looking for. I like 17th century and 30YW as a period but I want a set-up easy to store and transport. I'm enjoying all of your 30YW reports, they're very entertaining and inspiring. All the best, George. |
