In terms of this hobby, what do you use Legos for?

My Grandsons helped create entire Lego brick ACW Armies; we did it to demonstrate the versatility of our Gettysburg Soldiers Rules.

(Full Disclosure: when given a choice, they still prefer to break out the painted stuff and realistic terrain for a game!)

I do not use them. All I can thin off would be for walls and buildings.

Use them if I am gluing something and looking for some support to it

I don't use actual Legos, I use the cheap dollar store knock off bricks to make walls to make RTV molds for casting resin items.

I cut off the pins and using Evergreen Plastic sheets, and various wheels I make horse drawn artillery limbers and sometimes wagons.

They glue together using Plastruct Plastic Weld.

There are also some nice figures you can use for fantasy games as monsters. The ones that come in a few pieces are really nice to rip off a piece to show damage. The same concept works for a movement tray of robots.

I have thought about doing a similar thing with an O.G.R.E. type figure or large mech type figure … instead of detailed tracking sheets showing specific damage, just rip off a wheel for a mobility hit or a turret for a combat hit.

"Proper Use of the LEGO Trademark on a Web Site
If the LEGO trademark is used at all, it should always be used as an adjective, not as a noun. For example, say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGO BRICKS". Never say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGOs". Also, the trademark should appear in the same typeface as the surrounding text and should not be isolated or set apart from the surrounding text. In other words, the trademarks should not be emphasized or highlighted. Finally, the LEGO trademark should always appear with a ® symbol each time it is used."

I only use Legos to keep my grandson busy. Nothing to do with wargaming.

I want to use them for something, but they never seem to work out. They should take paint pretty well.

Lego. Not Legos. Think of it like sand, not sands. Here is some sand, I have a handful of sand, there are sand grains in my shoe. Here is some Lego, I have a handful of Lego, there are Lego bricks in my shoe.

But, that aside, I have used it for a variety of purposes. I've used paired small plates to affix parts of models that might snap off sometimes – aerials or satellite dishes for instance. I've used bricks to secure larger models that might be multipart, or if i need to access the interior, for a lit Necron Monolith, for instance. O have used clear dishes and 1-stud barrel blocks to make flight stands where you can easily indicate the altitude by adding extra barrels. I have used small coloured 1 stud round pieces as status markers.

I have some, my sister gave me some as always gave my nephew some at Christmas. Don't use them in gaming

If the children of the world call them "Legos," then it doesn't matter what the toy company wants to call them. They're "Legos."

Now, if you're selling them or advertising them or writing a news article about them, they're "LEGO®".

But if you're just jawing on a website about toy soldiers, they can be whatever the heck you want ‘em to be, as long as everybody knows what you're talking about.

I have gamed with Legos in the past, but no longer do. Still love ‘em.

Oh, and has everybody seen the new LEGO Barad-Dûr? link

Nothing.

Parzival +1.

If your audience understands what you are talking about then communication has happened.

I have like 4 Lego blocks, and maybe 2 of the figures, and some other rando pieces. I think I'll pitch them the next time I find them, they're useless…

otoh, I have a nice set of Japanese lock blocks from the 70's that I still use (mostly for making molds these days) and they're great… ;-)

Greylegion01 Jul 2024 3:13 a.m. PST

I use the to make the walls for mold boxes. They work very well for this application.
