You were asked – TMP link

Which actor delivered a great performance as a supporting cast member in a Western movie?

And in the final round of voting:

28% said "Val Kilmer"
17% said "Eli Wallach"
15% [TIE] said "Walter Brennan" OR "Chief Dan George"

This was quite predictable… He did tell us all that he's "our huckleberry."

He should have won an Oscar for his performance.

Yes Val was badly snubbed for his performance in "Tombstone". You ask: who won that year in his stead? Tommy Lee Jones.

I really did not think Dennis Quaid did a bad job as Holiday either. But overshadowed by Kilmer.

Val Kilmer all the way…even
the twirling of the small tin
cups was mesmerising !

Dennis Quade's Holliday was far more accurate. he was overall a very unlikable man. Kilmer's, although more entertaining, Holliday was more a lovable rogue which Holliday definitely was not.

Gratten, I agree with that. I thought the same when watching both.

But Kilmer had the best lines and swagger too.

Oscarworthy indeed.

A great actor who didn't get an Oscar for the best performance of his career.

He did a stellar job in that role.

Don't forget Gene Hackman in the Unforgiven.
