I just have three quick questions I would appreciate any input on. For all three questions, I understand that the French army uniforms of the 1790s were extremely disordered so I'm just looking for generalities

1) I see grenadiers of this time period wearing both bearskins and bicornes. Were both used at the same time per regulations?
2) From reading my Osprey books, French light infantry wore casques in 1792 and by 1801 shakos. At some point between these two dates, light infantry wore bicornes BUT it doesn't offer a date for the beginning of this change. Anyone have any ideas?
3) Is there any reason some hats have droopy red horsehair plumes and others have cylindrical multicolored plumes?

Thank you for your time!

I think it's fair to say that because things were disordered there were no generalities; so you either have primary sources for a specific unit at a specific date, or you guess.

Even in Napoleonic times grenadiers wore both bearskin or shako. So a mix in the French Rev era would see both too. Did they wear bearskins to Egypt?
