We all know it's not. About one in three adults around the world suffer from insomnia symptoms to some extent, according to the Cleveland Clinic. It seems that there are as many reasons for poor sleep as there are poor sleepers…"

As part of a division taking part in the division restructuring tests in the , my platoon and company was part of the sleep loss test. I had 11 vehicles and 41 men. We had cameras focused on every vehicle and every radio recorded.
Started at 6am and the daylight was fine as was the maneuvers through the first night. We perked up or so we thought for daylight two phase.
After hour 30 without sleep our reflexes and performance of small tasks began to suffer. Even though it was only noon, changing formation and driving in a convoy resulted in several minor vehicle accidents.
Once night two began we were nearing 40 hours and had finished a hectic refueling mission. Land navigation was off by kilos, target recons were sloppy, radio situation reports were garbled and unusable.
They halted at 8pm.

I was never in the military, but I did start taking naps when I turned 40. No specific regimen, just whenever I feel like it, I do. I sometimes use my phone's timer feature to wake me up.

Anyway, it's good quality sleep.
