Explainer video from Wall Street Journal: link

Last week, Russia used FAB-3000 glide bombs for the first time (weight 3000 kg, amount of explosives – 1200 kg). There are two known cases. The first use was caught on video, the target was a Ukrainian military barracks in Kharkov. The bomb did not directly hit the barracks building, but the video makes one think that the result can still be considered a success. The accuracy of the bomb is still not enough, but this was also the case with the first uses of the FAB-1500 and later the effectiveness will be increased. These strikes can be considered test strikes.

I personally believe that the use of FAB-3000 is redundant and is only needed occasionally. FAB-1500 is more than enough to solve most problems.

Ukraine needs to get those F-16s online…

Cuprum227 Jun 2024 4:35 a.m. PST

She has already connected Bayraktars, Javelins, HIMARS, Abrams, Leopards, Patriots, Atacams and a bunch of other things… And the bet on the "wunderwaffe" has never worked out. Well, the Russians will simply learn to effectively shoot down F-16s – that's all.

Agreed and that should have happened over a year ago …

You mean like the Ukraine has learned to effectively shoot down Russian aircraft ?

Our ADA crews would say, "If it flies it dies !" … Probably no different than any other nation's ADA crew would say …

BTW … FWIW … does anyone know the current numbers in the Ukraine of aircraft shot down by enemy aircraft. And shot down by enemy ADA ? I'd be interested to know, as I am sure others here would.

I mean that Russian aviation and air defense work great. Although Ukrainian and Western air defense is also not inferior to it.
I think after the appearance of the F-16, parity at the front will be restored very quickly.

It is difficult to find summary information on Russian aviation losses in Russian sources (as well as on Ukrainian ones – in Ukrainian sources).
But here is a table of confirmed Ukrainian losses (select Ukraine in the search – the third button in the middle column at the top):

Hmmm ? Interesting … will do more research on that topic. However, I don't always trust some media. Especially from the Russians.

These are private researchers conducting their activities long before the war in Ukraine. In addition, they always indicate a link to the source of information – this is either a photo-video, or information from the Ukrainian media or business correspondence. Not Russian sources…

I'm always suspect … even with some of the things that come from the USA's current gov't.
