Which historical movie featuring Winston Churchill is your favorite? Not including documentaries. |

Young Winston remains my favorite, although more recent productions are also quite inspiring. |

L'appel de 18 juin. The casting and acting for De Gaulle and Churchill are outstanding. YouTube link |

For nostalgia sake I'd say the Adventures of Young Indiana Jones |

Young Winston. You can't beat a Broomhandle Mauser. |

"Young Winston!" Young Simon Ward seemed the very incarnation. Outstanding score, and Anne Bancroft as Jennie, and Robert Shaw as Randolph--how could that be equaled today--much less beaten? TVAG |

"Young Winston" for the cast,as noted above, the scope and details (the Mauser et al) and, most of all, Winston and his dad playing with toy soldiers. |

I don't like 'Young Winston'; not quite sure why but perhaps an aversion to Simon Ward? Gary Oldman was marvellous in 'The Darkest Hour' but the film was spoiled for me by the fictitious expedition into the London Underground. 'The Wilderness Years' a mini-series so may not qualify was very good and Robert Hardy for me vies with Oldman in his portrayal. That said both Albert Finney and Brendan Gleeson were excellent. A different dimension – Churchill's dealings with Stalin and Roosevelt – are examined in the US mini-series 'When Lions Roared'; John Lithgow was excellent as Roosevelt, Bob Hoskins also as Churchill but I was a little less convinced by Michael Caine as Stalin. Again, apologies for including two mini-series but someone might not be aware of them. |
