The remains of 16 more servicemen from WWII and Korea are accounted for.

Glad they've been accounted for. Adds closure for their families.

One of the very things, is that the Govt has closed the books on all pre-ww2 MIAs. Even in cases where there is very good info to indicate an MIA is located in an unknown's grave, they will not conduct any work on it. Only if a 'foreign government" brings a body to their attention will the MIA people do any work on it. There are a handful of WW1 WIAs that people are pretty sure they have ID'd in various ways, and have family DNA to check it, but nope- they will not lift a finger.

Maybe if those families pressure their senators and representatives, something will get accomplished.

Jon Gawne, does the foreign government in question have to be the nation where the remains are located? I would assume so. Otherwise, it seems like the Vatican or the Knights of Malta might be worth a shot.

They may simply not want to open a gigantic can of worms, given the significantly higher percentage of unidentified soldiers from WWI and earlier conflicts.

People have been trying. Some senor military folks have agreed they have really good intel. But the strict direction of the MIA people prohibits spending any money on it.

I'm kind of interested in this as a relative killed in WW1 had his body 'lost' after the war, (they found it, but then lost it somehow) and only with a lot of pressure did they manage to find him again.
