…A pair of bills advanced last week in the House seeks to end the mission that was billed as the Biden administration's flagship effort to aid Palestinian civilians on the brink of starvation after months of Israel's bombardment of the Gaza Strip in its war against Hamas…

Interesting summary of the pier's problems and accomplishments.

I don't think the pier was designed to take such rough waters? And at least it got some use … Some supplies landed there. Regardless, Palestinians are still dying of starvation, lack of medical supplies, etc.

All that is on Hamas & Iran …

I'm all for ending all support of terrorist. The atrocities that they committed to start this latest round should be enough to prevent even the dimmest among us from thinking they are deserving of any support.

Does TMP now stand for The MiddleEastern Pier?

Unrealistic restrictions placed on getting aid into the country.
This was a pitiful attempt.
If the US wanted to send aid, simply tell the navy to get it delivered.
Allow them to work without thumb screw controls.

And yet the same people insisted on funding the Navy's LCS program long after it was deemed a failure in order to push more federal dollars into their districts. Procurement reform needed.

Short answer – continue the air drops of food, medical etc. Will it make a difference ? Maybe ? Many are going to die regardless.

But it is an election year …

There is a youtube channel called "what is going on with shipping. The guy has done several videos about how the pier is supposed to operate and how several US ships caught fire, or broke down on the way to Gaza. The operation was a total mess from the beginning.

Give aid to enemy civilians when the war is over, not during the fighting. The Berlin Airlift did not take place in 1944.

Enemy civilians? They are victims of decades of ethnic cleansing by Israel and people have the gall to blame them for the monstrous actions of an apartheid government.

And I don't want to hear about 'terrorism'. The Netanyahu government funds Hamas so they can scream about terrorism to get us to act as their piggybank, while trying to justify more death and wholesale theft of land and getting us to fight their wars for them. America has learned nothing the last few decades.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP19 Jun 2024 7:52 a.m. PST

Yes, it is widely reported that Netanyahu has facilitated the funding of Hamas by the Qataris for years, cash escorted into Gaza in suitcases even, as I recall. His claim was that this kept things balanced somehow. But we now know that this was a mistake.

"ethnic cleansing"
🤔 Did the Israelis learn nothing from the Nazis? Look how much ethnic cleansing the Germans got accomplished in a short time. Yet the Israelis, after decades, just can't seem to eliminate a smaller amount of Palestinians. Try, try, try as they might, they just seem to fail and fail. One might think they are the 3 Stooges of ethnic cleansing…. Or just maybe, just maybe they aren't ethnic cleansing at all and this is just the current colonialist propaganda propagated on our college campuses and by Muslims here and elsewhere.

But as I have said before: "Hamas surrenders today, and it all ends". No more "innocent" civilians die. Oh ….. well except for all those worldwide killed and maimed by radical Islamic terrorism. But hey, those are just evil white colonialist oppressors, getting their just desserts, right?

Both the Israelis and Hamas, etc. are considered to be committing war crimes. By many in the world. I think the IDF's hands are nowhere near as bloody as Hamas and the other islamic terrorists operating in the area. Remember 7 Oct 2023 …

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP19 Jun 2024 7:32 p.m. PST

Agreed…Hamas commits atrocities to shock and induce fear. Dead is dead, but it's not the same.

Grattan54 Supporting Member of TMP20 Jun 2024 7:59 a.m. PST

Ethnic cleansing? Then Israel is doing a poor job of it. The Palestinian population has been increasing for the last few decades.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP20 Jun 2024 8:07 a.m. PST

Yes, I think pointing a finger at Israel for ethnic cleansing is certainly not an accurate statement. But it fits Hamas, etc. agenda and narrative. Plus, as we see, many in the US, etc. have bought in to that propaganda. They drank all the Kool Aid koolaid And still are …

And again, after 7 Oct, the IDF soldiers may hold a grudge ? I would and I think my troops would as well ? Like 9/11 …

Payback is a Muth'a …

More details. Some of the footage is older, but many probably never saw it. The one Islamic terrorist is a father of 6 or 7. If the Israelis were practicing "ethnic cleansing", wouldn't it make sense to take his children and wife out and execute them immediately? After all, the chances are extremely high they will just be future rapists, torturers and murderers too. Like father, like sons, right? "The sins of the fathers are visited upon the children". But the Israelis didn't. They are also giving them trials, instead of executing them in the most gruesome methods possible.

We know that the real terrorists committing genocide are Hamas and the other islamic jihadis that did these war crimes …

They all must "reap the whirlwind" …

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP21 Jun 2024 12:33 p.m. PST

Here is another.

The mastermind of The massacre, was a prisoner in Israel, sentenced to 4 life sentences. But the Israelis exchanged him. Before he was exchanged, his life was saved by Jewish doctors.

Some would ask: What did mercy buy them?

"Sinwar, Bitton says, believes Jewish people have "no place" on "Muslim lands.""

It's not Muslim land! It was their land only by conquest. It can easily be argued, it's not Jewish land. It was also theirs originally by earlier conquests. The land has been conquered and reconquered over and over. Jews have been exiled or converted in the past. Some stayed and were absorbed into other countries. So today's Israelis have the right to it by force of arms.

But it is NOT Muslim land, that started in the bloody conquests of the 600's. The current Israelis have more historical right to it than the Muslims. But it still must be held by strength. If the Israelis lose their resolve, they will lose it again.

Hmmmm … Too bad the Israelis traded that butcher. He would have been better off very dead.

And yes, Jews have been on that land for a very, very, long time, even before moslems, IIRC.

And they ain't going nowhere. The moslems have tried many times to "push the Jews into the sea". Has not really worked out for the Arabs very well, has it? At least Jordan and Egypt are BFFs with the Jews. But they can see the reality of not going to with them.

greatpatton22 Jun 2024 1:25 a.m. PST

@ Grattan54: At least Israeli has been quite good at making sure that Christian are disappearing. Before Israel state around 30% of Palestinian were Christian (living along Muslim for 1200years since Christ time), now under 10% and Palestinian Christian city and village suffer the same fate has all the other Palestinians. This rarely make the news has it will point that this is not a "the West vs Muslim" A story pushed in the news is just to rally Western support for Israel. Just talk to Christian Palestinian who lost evrything and had to leave and what they will say is not different from what a Hamas guy will tell you.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP22 Jun 2024 7:54 a.m. PST

Well in that case maybe being a Palestinian overrode being a Christian ?

BenFromBrooklyn27 Jun 2024 6:43 a.m. PST

Israel is not removing Christians, Hamas is.
Yes, the proportion has shrunk since the 1922 count of 10%.The TOTAL has more than doubled, from 73K to 185K. This is not "ethnic cleansing" in any way. BUT, in Israel itself, that proportion has been shrinking slowly and gradually as the Jewish and Muslim population grows. Even so, the CHristians in Isreal have a growth rate of 1.3%.

In the West Bank they are shrinking. In Gaza they are close to extinct- Hamas allows a last few to stay for propaganda purposes. Since the Israelis gave Gaza to the Gazans, the Christian TOTAL population has shrunk by 2/3. THAT is ethnic cleansing.

The Israeli Christians are far wealthier, on average, than the Israeli Muslims.

Good points ! But much of that does not fit the current narrative and agenda of the Neo-Marxists socialist woke progressives. I.e. white people are oppressors and everybody else oppressed …

But Legion, it would go so well with all that equipment we left them. 😉

Of course … But maybe it will be given to Iran. And that will stop them from make nukes. Everybody knows that …
