I won't mention the store yet, I want to give them a chance to redeem the problem.

I ordered a copy of Project Z from this retailer, via Walmart online. It arrived earlier than forecast, well packed. Though the box was shipped UPS, an unused USPS padded envelope was included – not sure if this is for returns, or just free padding! grin

The boxed game was shrink-wrapped. However, when I opened the box, I found the cards already opened, the plastic wrapper still in the box, the cards scattered in the box and some were slightly worn. Based on the box description, 2 of the cards are missing (1 Survival Card, 1 Combat Card). Some of the paper game-aids were also torn or worn. Everything else was intact.

I'm disappointed, as this looks like a re-wrapped return, and I believed I was purchasing a new item. I don't know if the missing cards are essential to play and balance or not. Alternately, this could have been a problem from the manufacturer.

I hate to go to the hassle of returning this for just 2 missing cards and minor damage.

One more thing: They charged me sales tax, but their tax policy says they only charge for in-state deliveries.

Just a comment on the tax issue. They used Walmart as a host for the sale. Walmart will charge local taxes to where the customer lives. Just like Ebay does. The vendor has no say in the tax in this case.

Return it. It was not listed at used and you did not get what you paid for.

Sounds like they sent you a returned item due to condition of components.
So return it back to them as suggested above.

I used to sell a lot of books on Amazon. However with their new policies. They controlled all sales and shipping aspects.

In some small towns both Walmart and UPS will use the post office for final delivery

Interesting, because this is the seller's stated tax policy ON WALMART. grin

Well, it seems returns are easy, as I can just take the item to the service desk at Walmart. They'll even box it. (Too good to be true?)

Strike One. Went to Walmart, their computer systems were having problems. They could see my item in their system, but couldn't process a return. They said it was probably due to the heat (we're having a heat wave!). Financial services were down too.

I had the same thing hsppen to me. I opened a perfectly packed shipping box to reveal a shrink wrapped game only to find some of the figures missing, some partially glued together and a couple fully glued together. The cards were loose and the rule book well thumbed through. I contacted the company, included pictures and they apologized profusely and sent me another game with some extra game pieces. They told me to keep the other game and salvage what I could or throw it in the garbage. I salvaged all that I could.

Good luck with your issue.

On the second visit, Walmart handled the problem. I shouldn't have bothered to wrap up the game, though, as they apparently have to open the box themselves and verify the contents. (But they didn't open the actual game box, or verify the missing parts.)

I was told up to 5 days to get the refund. Received. grin

Glad to hear it has a happy ending, Bill
