I want to dust off my Crusades figs for a large battle.

Last time I played, I used Shattered Lances 2d.

Wish those rules had continued to be supported, as they seem a set that attempts to best target Crusades and the unique aspects particularly of the Arab horse and their methods of fighting.

I have a bunch of other Ancients and Medieval sets, but none seem to look as closely at these types, opting instead for a goal of being able to address larger time periods and more general groups of unit types.

First, anyone know of any updates to Shattered Lances 2d?

Second, anything close to Shattered Lances in terms of its focus on Crusades. My armies are mainly 1st Crusades.

Sorry but I converted the 1970s Standard games Medival System, Cry Havoc and Outreamer. I loved the map variety.

I participated in a Crusades game at Historicon a few years ago that used Tactica rules and it was a lot of fun. It definitely qualified as a "large battle".

I get that the cool kids might not be playing Shattered Lances, but if it's a good game then what support is required? Build up a FAQ if required, and adapt scenarios from other rules.

I actually don't know anyone who plays Medieval or Crusades battle-level. I do Wars of the Roses with Might of Arms, but it doesn't really work Crusades.

Dues Vult is a crusade specific set, but I don't know how it compares to Shattered Lances

Soldiers of God is even more focused on the Crusades to the Levant than Shattered Lances, so might be something to check out. I haven't played it myself, so can't advice you further on suitability.

Not sure why you wouldn't simply pick up Shattered Lances again, though? Did you feel it had some bugs that needed fixing?

I played SL quite a bit and made my own version of charts and cheat sheets. I felt like I was doing some things wrong and could get any response. That's been 10 years ago probably.

I've also consudered and looked at Ironbow II rules from The Perfect Captain but not played them

I played SL as well. Some really interesting ideas but like many sets body of rules was incomplete. I also found that in practice the system didn't work very well.
