A video has emerged showing Israeli forces using a medieval-style catapult called a trebuchet near Lebanon's southern border, where fighting with the armed group Hezbollah continues. Another video showed an Israeli archer launching burning arrows.

Well, if you are going to "go medieval" on someone, doing it literally is the proper way… ;-)

It's possible that the choice to use a low-tech weapon amid a war in which Israel is using new high-tech systems may be due to not wanting to fire projectiles such as mortars or artillery, that could harm people and cause Hezbollah to respond in-kind, as in previous violent episodes.

It's a stealth weapon; no sound or smoke to give away its location….

Given a problem, soldiers can be astonishingly creative in generating solutions.

It is one of the elements of war that games, with fixed rules, are hardest pressed to capture.

Korsun did you watch the video plenty of fire to get away the position and they do make a noise

Relatively cheap to produce. Gives no detectable signature in terms of EW. Can't be jammed. Relatively stealthy from behind the wall. I think it's brilliant…also is it really a fight for the holy land if no trebuchets or catapults are involved?

I believe I read somewhere it was very accurate!

I wonder how many views this video got?
For all other problems, there are more practical solutions.
