I've resisted the Warlord Epic Scale Napoleonics and Civil War sets because I already have armies for those periods. But I must say their new Punic Wars sets have caught my interest. But has anything been said about them expanding the range with other ancient armies? I mean the Punic Wars are cool, but there are many other match-up which would be equally cool. It would certainly make sense for Warlord to do this, but on the other hand, I've noticed that their epic Napoleonics still only offers French, Prussian, British, and small allies. No Austrian or Russians or the smaller German states have appeared. Has Warlord said anything about expanding these ranges?

I have a personal feeling that we would get Spanish and Portuguese before any other Napoleonic nation given the popularity of the Peninsular campaign.

You can expand the ranges with 3d printed ranges. Easy to scale a 15mm stl to 13.5mm. I have done it for the ACW range. 3D Breed did a Greco/Persian range that would scale well.

Similarly, for Napoleonics there are a variety of files available for different campaigns. No 3d printer, there are a number of printing services out there.

I'm curious where this goes as well. Warlord is a bit…scattered…at times, so it's hard to know what is coming out next. They could very easily crank out some Roman vs. Gaul sets or they might go off in a different direction and start Seven Years War.

I'd love to see Successor Pike & Cavalry done up in the 15mm strips. It could stand alone, or be paired with Persians.

The Punic war figures have my attention, but I already have a full 28mm army set for that period.

+1 aegiscg47; my thoughts as well.

The infantry look good. The cavalry look ridicules. 30 infantry to a base and only 5 cavalry. They look like skirmish units, not massed cavalry.

Also, what rules would you use with these? Hail Caesar is not a very good set of rules for ancients.

I am resisting Epic Hail Caesar since I set up battle scenes and do not game much. Epic Pike & Shotte is pretty good for battle scenes especially with some mods I have done to basing mine. EHC seems to give less possibilities. If I gamed the period, I would get them as an easy way to get into it.

I was very disappointed to learn these do not mesh with Pendraken or other 10mm. Once again we have this ridiculous scale wars. It's irritating.

They had a great concept – just took the wrongo scale once again.

I did not think Carthage elephants had Indian style howadhs?

The Ral Partha Carthage elephant with riders astride seemed the best to me.

Augustus, I felt the same way about their Epic ACW line, until I made peace with the fact that they don't have any oboligation to make their figures compatable with the other manufacturers any more than the various car manufacturers have an obligation to make interchangeable car parts.

Their Epic scale seems to be working for them, which is what they are concerned about. Their target audience is the person who wants a canned product; an army-in-a-box if you will. They are not worried about selling someone a pack of figures to round out their 10mm or 15mm figure collection. I understand the frustration, but the market supports Warlord's belief that 13.5mm is a viable scale.
