"Other RN possible Bismarck matchups." Topic

Hi, I'm sure this isn't a new topic, but does anyone know ships that would be involved in the fight with Bismarck and Prince Eugene if they had not taken the route that put them on course with Hood and Prince Of Wales? I remember in the planning stage in the film Sink The Bismarck, the commander was pointing out different routes Bismarck could take and mentioning which ships would take her on depending which way she went. Anyone have an order of battle for some of these other routes? I think he mentioned Repulse or Renown. KGV and Rodney were around and Arc Royal. Also any cruisers, destroyers, etc? Thanks for any help!

The old AH Bismarck game could be a help.

HMS Manchester and HMS Birmingham were patrolling the gap between Iceland and the UK with KGV and Victorious coming up to backstop them.

If Lutjens had opted to go east of Iceland rather than through the Denmark Strait he would have been picked up by those two who would have tried to shadow the Germans until the heavy units could come up.

I made the fall of France a year later (or the Bismarck a year earlier in being ready, your choice) and had a light Force d'Raid group of Richelieu and two CLs encounter Bismarck and Eugen in the Strait. No contest really, Richelieu ka-blammed Bismarck from nose on and Hood'd her in turn 2 (not the most realistic game, I admit, using NIMITZ rules).
