You were asked – TMP link Do you paint or represent waves on your naval bases? 22% said "I paint waves on my naval bases" 21% said "I have 3D waves on my naval bases" 16% said "my naval bases don't have waves"

Not so much waves, but a wake – sculpted and painted.

Slightly surprised at the result as clear bases seem reasonably popular.

It's pretty easy to put waves on clear bases. I just did a few dozen ironclads that way early this year. Coat plexiglass with Mod Pidge use brush to stipple on waves (optional) use brush to streak in a wake set miniature onto wet Mod Podge set aside to dry. Whitecaps optional.
