Hi all, I have been hard at work for the past 9 months on a set of rules called War is our Homeland. These rules allow you to play the big battle of the English Civl War, Thirty Years War, Dutch Revolt and more in an evening, without sacrificing historical accuracy. The rules are mostly finalized and only need a little bit of tightening up. The main thing I am looking for is people who are willing to playtest scenarios, as I have quite a few written up, only some of which have been tested so far. Please let me know if you are interested in trying, and I can shoot you an email with the rules. |

Irish Marine, a unit in War is our Homeland represents 1500 infantry or 1000 cavalry and the basing is flexible, but I use 60x30mm bases. The crux of this game is the command and control system which is based around giving units postures. A unit can always move straight forward, fire, and defend itself, but in order for it to charge, brace for a charge, conduct a maneuver, or volley it must be assigned Offensive, Defensive, Mobile, or Firing Posture respectively. How difficult it is to change this posture is dependent on the unit type, i.e. a tercio is easy to put on Defensive, but hard to put on Mobile or Offensive. You will have an easy time controlling the troops that are close to your commander, but the cavalry way out on the flanks will be much harder to wrangle. The combat is very simple to allow players to focus on commanding their troops. It is an opposed roll with some appropriate modifiers and the loser retreats and is Shaken. If a shaken unit loses a combat it is removed. |

Thanks for all the interest y'all, I will send out the rules with some instructions and request to all the people that have posted so far. Due to the fact that I don't want to make it publicly available yet, I will be capping it here for now. |
