Rather than go through each one, I have found it very rewarding to select my next Sci-fi read according to serendipitous browsing and fun online recommendations. I used ot devour SF. But in recent years most of what I see falls into a few categories, none of which interest me much, or I think are well written. Especially the 'award winning' books- I find far too many are just not very good, or highly derivative. I used to make it a point to finish every book I picked up, but these days IF I start reading a book, and int he first few pages go -"I hate this style", or "this story is just bad" I just don't waste my time anymore. Stuff I like- Micky7 by Edward Ashton, Electric Church by Jeff Somers, and The CHronicles of Old Guy by Timothy Gawne. |

Mostly hard sci-fi; as is the main thread don't read as much of it as I used to – I am reading the "Three Body Problem" by Lui which has some pretty grim parts – I do miss books like Neuromancer and Black Man (which I think was published in the US as Thirteen) |

I have just read Hot Moon and enjoyed it, a good source of inspiration for a few games of Lunar. |

I actually took the online test and got this result: 74% What science fiction novel would you like?
74% Transhumanism science fiction is concerned with the transformation of humans whether it be psychological, social, physiological, or technological influences at work. I don't really read it any more. I write for my Traveller campaign, and I watch tv and movies -- new and old -- for inspiration. But I have read a lot: Heinlein, Asimov, Niven, Pournelle, Zelazny, Anderson, Pohl, Norton, Scalzi, Rucka, Bear, Vinge …. |

I look at the books in the library; If they are over 500 pages long, I tend to put them back. Ditto for many multi-book series, if I can't start from the first book, I'll pass, not much enjoyment in reading them out of order… |

I read Analog magazine a couple times a year. That's my hard sf fix. I also read a lot of classic sf, I just finished Doc EE Smith's Children of the Lens and Isaac Asimov's The Gods Themselves is next on my list. |

A former one, mostly. I used to read a lot of it when I was younger, but the little fiction that gets read nowadays tends to be fantasy or horror. Perhaps I'll read more of it again when the spawn gets older and reading time, mayhap, more plentiful again. |
